Today we’re featuring the nursery of new mama of 3, Emma Hooft. This nursery pairs a modern neutral crib with a trendy boho colour palette and lots of natural touches with plants and different textures around the room. Little Scout will no doubt love growing up in this beautiful space.
Emma shares some her favourite tips for designing her 3rd nursery and all the details on how she painted the lovely boho arch on the crib wall.
Hello my name is Emma and I'm a Mom of three kids Hendrix (7) Indiana (4) and Scout (almost 2 months). We didn’t find out if we were having a boy or girl this time around so we kept Scout's nursery very gender neutral. I would have wanted rust, beiges, and all neutral colours anyways and I'm very happy with how it turned out.
One of the things I did differently with this nursery was I got rid of my fabric chair and swapped it out for leather, and my change pad was fabric and I also changed it out for a Gathre change pad. It’s so easy to wipe off spit up or clean up a blow up off of the Gathre mat and chair.
DIY PAINTED ARCH
To paint the arch I measured how wide I wanted it to be against the crib and I put painters tape in straight lines down to the baseboard. The I followed the steps below:
- I tied a pencil onto a string and taped the string to the centre of the painters tape so I could use the pencil to draw a semi circle.
- Next I used a small paintbrush to paint the pencil line and tried to make it as crisp as possible.
- Finally I used a roller to paint the rest of the arch.
We hoped you enjoyed this lovely little tour and be sure to let us know if you paint an arch in your nursery and tag us @nestinthecity
